Build a Career in General Aviation

Maple West Aero Ltd. is seeking a motivated apprentice with a genuine passion for aviation.

We are not simply looking for an extra set of hands. We are looking for someone who wants to become an integral member of our team and participate in all aspects of our operation, including aircraft maintenance, restoration, flying club operations, flight operations, and aircraft management.

Our Vision

We believe aviation should be more than a job.

Our goal is to continue building an organization recognized for exceptional workmanship, technical expertise, professionalism, and an uncompromising commitment to quality.

We are not interested in becoming the largest maintenance organization. We want to be recognized as experts in the areas in which we choose to operate.

Our long-term goals include:

  • Continuing to deliver the highest quality workmanship in every aspect of our operation.

  • Expanding our aircraft maintenance, restoration, and modification capabilities.

  • Growing Mountain Wind Aviation Club and expanding our fleet of aircraft.

  • Expanding our aircraft management services.

  • Continuing to expand into more advanced aircraft and operations.

  • Adding a jet aircraft to our organization by 2030.

We recognize that these goals are ambitious, but we believe ambitious goals attract ambitious people.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Valid Canadian Private Pilot Licence (PPL) or higher is strongly preferred. Because our operation integrates both aircraft maintenance and flight operations, a PPL provides valuable operational knowledge and demonstrates a meaningful commitment to aviation. Exceptional candidates without a PPL may still be considered.

  • Current enrollment in, or completion of, a recognized Canadian AME training program with demonstrated academic success.

  • Applicants must have previous hands-on mechanical experience in addition to their formal AME training. Acceptable experience may include aviation, automotive, marine, fabrication, agricultural, heavy equipment, or similar mechanical environments.

  • Ability to identify basic aircraft systems, piston engine components, and common aircraft hardware.

  • Strong mechanical aptitude.

  • Positive attitude and a strong work ethic.

  • Ability to work independently.

  • Flexibility to work variable schedules, including evenings or weekends.

  • Excellent command of the English language, with the ability to clearly understand, interpret, and communicate technical information in both written and verbal form.

The Ideal Candidate Will:

  • Be interested in both maintenance and flight operations

  • Be seeking a long-term career in general aviation

Additional Skills (Preferred)

The ideal candidate will also possess some or all of the following qualifications:

  • Proficiency with common computer applications

  • Experience with software, database, website, or web application development

  • An interest in helping modernize and digitize our operation

We are actively working to transition many aspects of our business from traditional paper-based systems to integrated digital processes. Candidates with experience in software development, web development, database management, automation, digital record-keeping, website management, or related technical fields will be given special consideration.

We value initiative, creativity, and continuous improvement. As Maple West Aero continues to grow, we want our employees to grow with us.

Compensation:

We recognize and reward employees who demonstrate initiative, technical ability, reliability, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

  • Full-time employees: Three-month probationary period.

  • Part-time employees: Probationary period equivalent to 500 hours worked, up to a maximum of six months.

  • Compensation reviews are based on demonstrated competency, increased responsibility, and overall contribution to the organization.

  • Performance and retention incentives for employees who demonstrate long-term commitment and continued professional growth.

  • Complimentary Mountain Wind Aviation Club membership may be available following the successful completion of the probationary period and successful completion of the club flight review.

  • Preferred aircraft rental rates are available to employees who successfully complete the required club checkout and remain members in good standing.

Please note that participation in Mountain Wind Aviation Club is a privilege extended to eligible employees and is subject to all club policies, operating procedures, flight reviews, and membership requirements.

Application Requirements:

Please submit a cover letter that is specific to Maple West Aero Ltd. and Mountain Wind Aviation Club. Your cover letter should demonstrate that you have reviewed our websites and have taken the time to understand our operation.

Applicants who submit generic cover letters that do not specifically reference our websites, aircraft, projects, or operations will not be considered.

Please address the following:

  • After reviewing the Maple West Aero and Mountain Wind Aviation Club websites, which specific aircraft, project, service, or aspect of our operation interests you the most, and why?

  • Describe your previous hands-on mechanical experience.

  • Describe your flight experience, including your current licence, ratings, endorsements, and total flight time.

  • Which skills would you most like to develop?

  • Which aspect of your background do you believe best aligns with our organization's vision?

  • What attracted you to Maple West Aero specifically, rather than another AMO?

  • Is there anything else you would like us to know that you believe would make you an exceptional fit for our organization?

Please submit your detailed cover letter and résumé to info@maplewestaero.com.

Only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.

Help us grow, and grow with us!
