Kristopher Koch - President and Founder

Hello, I'm Kristopher, founder, President, and Person Responsible for Maintenance for Maple West Aero Ltd.

Aviation has been a passion of mine since I was six years old. I've been flying since 2003 and turning wrenches since 2004, and I still enjoy being around airplanes just as much today as I did as a kid.

Born and raised in the Lower Mainland, I now call Pitt Meadows home. On any given day, you'll probably find me working on a Cessna in the hangar or flying circuits in my PA-22/20.

Over the years, I've flown and maintained aircraft for everything from small, family-run operations in remote communities near the Arctic Circle to luxury lodges in the Rocky Mountains and South Chilcotin region.

One of the highlights of my flying career has been spending five seasons as Captain on the 14-passenger DHC-3 Turbo Otter and the Cessna Caravan EX G1000 with Harbour Air.

Early in my career, I realized that understanding the aircraft I was flying from both an operational and a mechanical perspective would make me a better pilot. That realization led me to pursue my AME license and ultimately shaped the direction of my career.

Owning and operating a Transport Canada-approved aviation business is the culmination of more than two decades of experience in aviation. I founded Maple West Aero in 2016 and was proud to achieve AMO status in February 2024.

In September 2025, Transport Canada conducted its first process inspection of our operation, resulting in zero findings and confirming our compliance with all applicable regulations and standards.

Maple West Aero continues to grow, and I'm excited about the future.

Thank you for visiting, and welcome to Maple West Aero!

Spencer Eigenmann - AME Apprentice

Spencer Eigenmann - AME Apprentice

Spencer joined Maple West Aero in late 2024 while still enrolled in the BCIT AME program and transitioned to a full-time position after graduating in 2025.

From the beginning, Spencer demonstrated the qualities we value most: initiative, curiosity, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic. While attending school, he worked evenings and weekends, quickly becoming an important part of our operation.

He has played a significant role in the extensive restoration and modernization of our PA-22 project, taking ownership of major tasks, including the electrical wiring and instrument panel upgrade.

Since joining the company full-time in September 2025, Spencer has helped dramatically increase the operational capacity of Maple West Aero while continuing to expand his knowledge and technical abilities.

Spencer is also a Commercial Pilot, which aligns perfectly with our philosophy that flying and maintaining aircraft are complementary skills. His development within our organization has extended beyond aircraft maintenance to include flight operations, mountain flying, backcountry operations, and advanced aircraft handling.

His ability to combine strong technical skills with sound aeronautical decision-making will undoubtedly make him a well-rounded aviation professional.

More importantly, Spencer embodies the culture we are trying to build at Maple West Aero. He is ambitious, dependable, and a natural fit within our team.

And then there's my son, Maverick.

Taking time out of a busy day to help a three-year-old solve a screwdriver problem certainly isn't in the job description, but Spencer does it anyway. Small moments like that say a great deal about a person's character, and they're deeply appreciated by Julia and me.

We're proud to have Spencer as part of the team, and we're excited to see where his aviation career takes him.

Keep up the great work, Spencer!
